Registration for City Walk 2023 is still open

PENANGITES are urged to get themselves registered for the City Walk 2023, which is organised by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP). It is set to happen on Jan 1.

 

MBPP mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang said, those whose birthday falls on New Year’s Day, are entitled for a free registration for the event.

 

“We welcome everyone to participate in the walk. And the registration for adults is RM15 and RM10 for children.

 

“The closing date is on Dec 4,” Yew said during the MBPP’s regular meeting today.

 

Also present was MBPP secretary Datuk A.Rajendran.

Alongside the City Walk, Yew said another event, the City Ride 2023 will also take place on the next day, that is Jan 2.

 

“We received overwhelming response for the City Ride next year, exceeding its limit of 1,000 participants.

 

“Now a total of 2,300 riders will be joining the ride,” he said while adding that the registration for City Ride is closed.

Meanwhile, MBPP councillor Tan Seang Keat said, the council has passed the guidelines for the usage of micromobility vehicles on the island.

 

“On Nov 9, our committee (infrastructure and traffic) had passed the guidelines for the usage of micromobility vehicles on the island.

 

“The guideline will take effect once it has been approved by the council,” said Tan who is the MBPP Infrastructure and Traffic Committee alternate chairman.

 

Meanwhile, Yew said only certain micromobility vehicles are allowed and they can only be used at the bicycle lanes and alleys.

“They are not allowed to be used on the roads,” he added.
