Solidarity with Guan Eng through social media campaign, says Sim

THE DAP has resorted to using the social media to explain former Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng’s court case to the public, Penang DAP publicity secretary Steven Sim said.

“We are still facing the Covid-19 crisis. Hence, we have decided not to hold any rally in front of the Butterworth Sessions Court tomorrow and this is in accordance with the advice from the police.

“Our supporters are free to use the Facebook banner that we have prepared on the social media.

“The people can also show their support by putting #SolidaritiBersamaLGE on their Facebook profiles,” Sim told a press conference in Berjaya George Town Hotel today.

Sim said that the social media campaign was aimed at countering fake news and providing a platform for supporters to express solidarity.

On a separate matter, Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow denied rumours that RM1 million has been raised for Guan Eng’s bail this year.

“That was an old news in 2016, where RM1 million was raised within 21 hours,” Chow said.

Chow then presented a copy of a receipt; showing the RM1,038,737.43 amount raised in 2016 (including additional interest) which was contributed to the Penang Future Foundation (PFF).

The PFF gives out scholarships to needy students of all races.

Also present were Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang, DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke and state DAP leaders.
