Time to heal nation’s financial woes, says CM at State DAP Deepavali Open House

CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow, in his State DAP Deepavali Open House address at Penang Times Square on Nov 11, reminded all who were present of the significance for this year’s Deepavali celebration as a triumph over darkness like the true meaning of the celebration itself.

“This year’s Deepavali celebration is indeed very special because it marks the triumph of light over darkness like what we witnessed in GE14 which ended the 10 years’ period of darkness where all government policies and decisions (of the previous regime) did not take the welfare of the people into consideration.

“All these policies which (the previous regime) implemented resulted in our country now facing huge financial debts which need to be solved by the new administration. As the political party and current government which enjoys the support and mandate from the people, let us face these national problems and issues right now as it’s time for us to work hard towards healing the nation’s financial woes,” said Chow, who’s also the state DAP chairman.

“We urge the people of Penang and Malaysians in general to be patient with the current federal government because it was beyond our expectation of what we inherited from the previous regime was a massive amount of debt until some of our promises made during the election campaign can’t be implemented right now.

“We, therefore, hope the people of Malaysia can be with us in these trying times to help overcome the structural problems affecting our country. We thank the people for your support for us in DAP and Pakatan Harapan to lead the nation and Penang,” Chow said.

Others who spoke at the event were Jelutong MP RSN Rayer, who’s was also the organising chairman for the State DAP Deepavali Open House, exco members Jagdeep Singh, Zairil Khir Johari and Chong Eng.
