TECHNOLOGY company Efinix Malaysia has officially opened its new office at GBS@Penang Airport in Bayan Lepas today, marking another significant milestone in the company’s expansion and reaffirming its long-term commitment to innovation, talent development and the growth of Malaysia’s semiconductor industry.
Headquartered in Cupertino, California, Efinix operates globally with offices across several countries.
Backed by leading semiconductor and system investors, the company combines deep hardware and software expertise to deliver production-ready Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) solutions that power artificial intelligence (AI)-driven systems and edge computing applications.
Speaking during the opening ceremony today, Efinix chief technology officer Tony Ngai described the new office as a major step forward in the company’s journey.
“The opening of our new office marks a remarkable milestone for Efinix. It reflects our continued commitment to innovation, growth and talent development in Malaysia.
“Our new office at GBS@Penang Airport represents far more than just a new workspace. It is an investment in our future.
“It provides the environment and resources needed to support our expanding team, foster greater collaboration and accelerate the development of next-generation technologies that will drive the future of intelligent systems and edge AI.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
Also present were InvestPenang chief executive officer Datuk Loo Lee Lian, Efinix chief operating officer Ming Ng and Efinix general manager Thow-Pang Chong.
In his speech, Chow congratulated Efinix on reaching another important milestone, describing the expansion as a strong vote of confidence in Penang’s thriving technology ecosystem.
“This new office represents another chapter in Efinix’s growth journey and further reinforces Penang’s reputation as a preferred destination where technology companies can establish, expand and grow sustainably over the long term.
“I had the opportunity to visit Efinix in the United States in 2024, where the company shared its plans to expand its operations in Penang.
“I am delighted to see those plans become a reality today. More importantly, I am pleased that Efinix continues to place its confidence in Penang as a strategic location for growth, innovation and technological excellence,” he said.
Chow added that the Penang government remains committed to supporting Efinix in its next phase of growth while continuing efforts to strengthen the state’s position as a global hub for the semiconductor industry, integrated circuit (IC) design and artificial intelligence.
