THE Seri Delima constituency has welcomed its seventh public pickleball court, prompting its assemblyman Connie Tan to describe the area as a “pickleball paradise”.
Tan said Seri Delima was home to Penang’s first public pickleball court, which was established in 2024.
“Today, we have a total of seven public pickleball courts in the constituency,” she said at the opening of two new courts located on the upper floor of the Tun Sardon Market.
She said the development of public pickleball facilities was aimed not only at encouraging people to stay active, but also at promoting healthier lifestyles among young people.
“We hope this will encourage youths to spend less time on electronic devices and engage more in outdoor activities.

“It can also help reduce social problems among youths,” she added.
The two courts at Tun Sardon Market are the sixth and seventh public pickleball courts in Seri Delima. The facilities were developed by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP).
MBPP Mayor Datuk A. Rajendran said approximately RM160,000 was spent on the project.
He said the works included waterproofing, fencing and lighting installations.
“Construction began on March 1 and was completed on May 31,” he said.
Also present was Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh.
